One of the most quintessentially Parisian districts, it’s hard not to fall in love with the narrow streets, elegant boutiques, and bustling cafés of Saint-Germain. In addition to these pleasures, staying in this central Left Bank neighborhood means you’ll be able to visit much of the city on foot. However, its charm, beauty, and convenience come at a price – Saint-Germain is among the most expensive districts in Paris. Despite this, there are a few great budget options, as well as some sumptuous splurges, which we’ve brought together in our selection of the best hotels in Saint-Germain Paris.

Pros and Cons of Staying in Saint-Germain
Unlike some other districts, Saint-Germain doesn’t have a hard and fast border, but it roughly occupies the north of the 6th arrondissement and the northeast of the 7th, from Place de l’Odéon to the Musée d’Orsay. In addition to this famous museum, the area is home to several historic churches and tons of art galleries, shops, and classic cafés. Here are some of the advantages and then the less appealing attributes of staying in Saint-Germain.
Pros
- It’s a beautiful, chic, and historic district.
- It’s very central with many popular Paris attractions within walking distance.
- There are plenty of shops and restaurants in the area.
Cons
- It’s on the expensive side.
- While it’s somewhat local, it has a higher percentage of tourists than the outer districts of Paris (arrondissements 9 to 20).
- It’s NOT very young and hip (in case that’s what you’re looking for!)
