Pros and Cons of Staying in the Latin Quarter
Pros
- It contains or is next to top sites like Notre Dame Cathedral, Ile-de-la-Cité, the Panthéon, Shakespeare and Company bookstore, and the National Medieval Museum.
- Its extremely central location means you can walk to most other top Paris attractions.
- It’s alongside the river, a nice place for strolling.
- It has some totally charming back streets and the great market street, rue Mouffetard.
Cons
- Part of it is really touristy (but there are some really nice areas too).
- Overall it doesn’t have great restaurants (this is improving!).
- There are fewer local hangouts than in other districts (but there are a few great ones, like Place de la Contrescarpe and rue Mouffetard).
