Hôtel Jeanne d’Arc Le Marais

While it’s on the slightly higher side of “budget”, with a stylish atmosphere and very reasonable prices for the area, this is a great budget hotel in Marais. Rooms are decorated with funky wallpaper, eclectic design objects, and some have exposed wooden beams. Leaving the hotel, you have the top attractions of the Marais within a short walk. You won’t have to go far to people-watch or relax on a shady bench in Place des Vosges, take in some history and art at the district’s many museums, peruse trendy boutiques, or sip craft cocktails at the area’s cool bars.

L’Hôtel Orphée

While it might seem like there aren’t any good cheap hotels in Paris city center, this simple yet chic hotel is a great find. Part of the Orso Group of affordable boutique hotels in Paris, Hôtel Orphée is on the eastern edge of the 5th arrondissement, close to the Jardin des Plantes (one of Paris’s oldest parks), The Grand Mosque of Paris (with its fabulous tea salon and hammam), and the more local areas of the Latin Quarter. The hotel’s 44 rooms are in shades of brick, terracotta, and khaki; a modern palette complemented by high-quality linens and exotic wood. La cerise sur le gâteau – the cherry or icing on the cake – is the view from the private balconies of the rooftops of Paris!

Welcome Hotel

Although the decor isn’t as hip as the others on this list, among the best budget friendly hotels in Paris this one benefits from a prime location in the heart of Saint-Germain. In an area with virtually only expensive accommodation, it’s a real steal. Rooms have a contemporary look with peach and burgundy accents. As it has single rooms and is in an ultra-safe neighbourhood, it’s a great hotel in Paris for solo travellers. Stepping out the door, there are plenty of cafes, bars, and restaurants, including those lining the popular rue du Buci. The Luxembourg Gardens and Musée d’Orsay are both within a 10-minute walk and all other top Paris sites are within easy reach on foot. What’s more, you can use the money you saved on the cost of your room towards shopping in the area’s fashionable boutiques.

Hotel Paradis

Some of the top budget friendly hotels in Paris are in the 10th arrondissement, like this stylish 3-star hotel. In addition to its good value, the 10th is also a fabulous area to stay if you’re looking for cool bars and restaurants that Parisians go to. In the very heart of the 10th, Hotel Paradis is midway between the Gare du Nord train station (which serves the Eurostar to London) and the Opéra district. In tones of pale teal, blue, and grey, rooms feature designer headboards and lighting, while a few have sofa beds suitable for families or views of Sacré-Coeur. Not to worry if you don’t have a vista of Paris’s famed white basilica, it’s reachable on foot, just like the entertainment venues of Les Grands Boulevards and the cool rue du Faubourg Saint-Denis, hopping at night with its overflowing bars and excellent restaurants.

OKKO – Gare de l’Est

This Parisian branch of a French group of environmental and budget friendly hotels attracts both digital nomads and modern travelers thanks to its fun young vibe. Located right along a platform of Gare de l’Est train station, it’s perfect for onward travel to Eastern France and Germany, or simply having access to the three métro lines that go through the station. Its 170 rooms are on the compact side, but let’s face it, you won’t be spending much time in your room since the hotel has a great lounge for mingling with fellow guests AND a massive public garden on its roof. The cool Canal-Saint Martin is a short jaunt away as are the many great bars and restaurants of the 10th.

Hotel Off Seine

When looking for cool hotels in Paris, it will be hard to find one more original than this hotel sitting right on the Seine River (yes… ON the river!). Moored off the banks of the 13th arrondissement, the glass-encased boutique hotel has standard rooms at amazingly reasonable prices (its suites less so). A super fun place to hang out, it has a pool, a bistronomic restaurant, and a festive bar with DJ nights. A bit of a Parisian secret, this surrounding area is home to many startups and coworking places, so after work, you’ll find plenty of internationally-minded Parisians in the nearby festive bars and restaurants, like the massive La Félicità, the boat bars along the river, and the rooftop clubs atop Les Docks – Cité de la Mode et du Désign.

Mama Shelter West

While these trendy boutique hotels might not seem like they could be within the budget friendly hotels in Paris category, their Left Bank outpost is quite affordable and, if you book ahead, you can get some amazing deals. Designed by renowned architect Jean-Michel Wilmotte, its arrival in the southwest of the 15th arrondissement, next to the Porte de Versailles Exhibition Center, has made this previously sleepy pocket of Paris increasingly hip. After hanging out with Parisians on its gorgeous rooftop bar, go back to your eclectically decorated room (available as doubles, twin, and family rooms), put on a free movie, and slip into your luxury linen sheets — the perfect way to end a day in Paris!

ReMIX Hotel

A funky musical vibe flows throughout this original hotel situated in the northeastern 19th arrondissement, where there are some of the best clubs and concert halls in Paris. Reimagined by London architect Zafrir Saar, the boutique hotel takes its inspiration from the nearby Zénith de Paris concert hall, the Cité de la Musique music museum and conservatory, and the Philharmonic, housed in an avant-garde contemporary building. Velvet, neon, marble, and musical instruments create a fun design orchestration throughout the hotel’s common areas and 259 rooms. After snapping shut your laptop in the co-working area, get your groove on at the bar where DJs spin in the evenings. Although it might be further away from classic Paris sites like the Louvre and the Eiffel Tower, it’s located in a real neighbourhood where you can be amongst Parisians strolling the Canal de l’Ourcq, chilling on the vast lawns of the Parc de la Villette, or dancing the night away at Cabaret Sauvage.
