As one of the world’s most visited and most elegant cities, it’s no surprise that Paris has a fabulous range of luxury hotels. Many of these are near the Champs Elysées, which is an area we don’t normally recommend staying in as it lacks local life, but, if you’re going to live it large, this part of Paris is ideal for that. We’ve brought together the best of these, as well as amazing options in other areas of the city, here on our list of the most luxurious hotels in Paris.

Cheval Blanc Paris
The most centrally-located of Paris’s luxury hotel occupies the Seine-facing side of the historic Samaritan department store. Opened in 2021, the Paris outpost of this luxurious hotel group stayed true to the building’s origins with an Art-Deco-inspired decor. If you can, treat yourself to a room with a river view which spans from Notre Dame to the Eiffel Tower. After your day of visiting the nearby Louvre Museum or a shopping spree in the Samaritaine, return to the hotel for dinner at one of its two restaurants: Le Tout-Paris, which has one Michelin star and a stunning panorama over the city, and Hakuba, which serves refined Japanese cuisine.

Royal Monceau Raffles
Definitely among the cooler luxury hotels in Paris, the interiors of this prestigious hotel near the lovely Parc Monceau were reinvented by star designer Philippe Starck. A meeting point of artists and writers during the Roaring Twenties, Starck created a modern space that gives you the impression of staying in a sleek Parisian apartment. You’ll find guitars, mid-century design items, and even a contemporary art gallery. Its exceptional indoor pool, tranquil courtyard garden, private cinema, bar with weekly live music, and elegant residential area around the hotel make you feel even more at home. Your stay is made complete by the hotel’s excellent dining options, including its one Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, Il Carpaccio.

Hotel Lutetia
The Left Bank’s most prestigious hotel is set within a spectacular Art Nouveau building in the Saint-Germain neighborhood. Another popular hangout of Parisian creatives during the 1920s, the hotel’s recent restoration revives this era with an updated Art Deco look. Both the lounge and bar have soaring ceilings and a welcoming, refined feel. Bright and spacious, some rooms have private balconies, terraces, or Eiffel Tower views. It also has its own cool concept store, which you can pop into before perusing the chic shops in the surrounding streets.

Le Saint James
Hidden on a quiet street in the chic 16th district is the only luxury hotel in Paris within a former castle, albeit a small one. Constructed in the 1890s, the chateau was converted into a hotel and gentlemen’s club in the 1990s and more recently redecorated by hot Parisian designer Laura Gonzalez in 2021. Refined rooms are found in the main building and larger apartments are in an adjacent villa, perfect for families. After a day of sightseeing, visiting the nearby Eiffel Tower or museums at Trocadéro, you’ll savor the peacefulness of this luxurious haven, enjoy a delicious nature-focused meal at their gourmet restaurant, or pamper yourself at its Guerlain spa.

Another of the crème de la crème of top luxury hotels in Paris, this historic hotel has a prized central location across from the Tuileries Gardens. Rooms have eternal Parisian elegance and it’s certainly worth splurging on a room overlooking the graceful Tuileries, or – for the ultimate indulgence – the penthouse apartment which has its own rooftop terrace. Le Narcisse Blanc
This hotel is both the best luxury hotel near the Eiffel Tower on the Left Bank and a more “affordable” option than the others on this list. Nestled on a tranquil street in one of the few local areas close to the Eiffel Tower, the hotel is close enough to walk to Paris’s most famous monument, yet far enough from its crowds. Evocative of its name, a white narcissus flower, rooms are decorated in tones of white and cream with touches of gold. After climbing the tower, walking along the Seine, or visiting the area’s smaller museums, treat yourself to a massage in its excellent spa.

Intimate yet opulent, this hotel’s sumptuous interiors were created by renowned interior designer Jacques Garcia. Located on a side street a block from the Place de la Concorde, as soon as you walk through its doors you’ll be met with the perfect image of Parisian grandeur – regal portraits, carved marble fireplaces, and gilded antiques. In addition to its three-Michelin-starred restaurant, Le Gabriel, it has a sophisticated Bar Le Gaspard, and some suites have private terraces and sweeping views of the city.

Shangri-La Paris
Occupying the former mansion of Prince Roland Bonaparte, this is the best luxury hotel in Paris for views of the Eiffel Tower. And you’d hope it would, considering its prominent location right across the river from la Tour Eiffel. The views are indeed sensational, however, the area is a tad sleepy – that is unless the concierge has booked you a table at the neighboring trendy restaurants Monsieur Bleu or Girafe. Rooms are refinely decorated and if your budget allows for it, book the Prince Bonaparte Apartment, the original living space of the prince, and a classified heritage site.

Hôtel de Crillon, a Rosewood Hotel
We also couldn’t forget this classic establishment, sitting regally on Place de la Concorde, on our list of the most luxurious hotels in Paris. A grand former aristocratic palace, its rooms have a more modern look, decorated with modern art and in a palette of whites and greys. Some rooms and suites have spectacular views over the vast square (Paris’s largest!), or beyond to the Grand Palais, Champs Elysées, and Eiffel Tower. Have a deluxe cocktail in the sparkling Bar des Ambassadeurs before a gourmet meal in their one-Michelin-starred L’Ecrin restaurant or a more casual meal in the Winter Garden.

Nolinski Paris
Another slightly more reasonably-priced luxury hotel, this stylish new hotel is well-situated in the Opera District. And not just anywhere in the Opera district, smack dab on the prestigious Avenue de l’Opera, with the Opera Garnier at one end and the Louvre at the other. This makes it the perfect match for being able to walk to Paris’s top museums, shops, and other attractions. The decor is decidedly 21st-century chic, with cool designer lighting, geometric mirrors, and contemporary furnishings, all made with precious materials. Don’t forget to pack your swimsuit, the hotel has an absolutely phenomenal indoor pool.
