If you’re reading this article, you’re likely doing one of the most difficult parts of planning your perfect trip to Paris – choosing where to stay. There are SO many hotels here, this is definitely NOT an easy task, and if it’s your first trip to Paris, you might like the idea of staying near Notre-Dame, the Eiffel Tower, or Sacré-Coeur.

There are some super advantages to these areas, but some important downsides you might also want to think about. I go over all the factors to consider, as well as some fantastic places to stay, in this article on the best Paris hotels near popular attractions.

Where to stay near Notre-Dame Cathedral

Notre-Dame Cathedral has been an extremely popular place to visit in Paris since reopening in December 2025. Staying near Paris’s famed cathedral offers a few other benefits besides being able to visit it really easily (find out more in our guide to visiting Notre-Dame). Notre-Dame is RIGHT in the center of Paris, so it’s a fabulously convenient location for exploring Paris on foot. It’s also very close to the charming Latin Quarter and elegant St-Germain neighborhoods.

There are a couple of downsides of staying around here though, namely the lack of great local restaurants, bakeries, and shops right nearby. But there are some not too far away, and I’ve included some great local spots on Days 1 and 2 of our Paris Itinerary. Among all of the best Paris hotels near Notre-Dame, you should have a fantastic stay at the following options.

Hôtel Notre-Dame Saint Michel (€€)

For up-close views of Notre-Dame straight from your room, you can’t beat this budget-friendly boutique hotel in the 5th. Decorated by the famous designer Christian Lacroix, the building is ancient and has tons of charm. The rooms have modern floral wallpaper and artwork evoking the city’s history, which I think sets the perfect tone for a romantic trip to Paris. Not all rooms have views of the cathedral, so make sure you check what’s available before booking.

Hotel Suez (€€€)

This stylish family-run boutique hotel is only a few minutes walk from Notre-Dame. It doesn’t have views of the Cathedral, but it does have a FANTASTIC ambiance, and you won’t have the massive tourist crowds that swarm around the Cathedral. The hotel was refurbished in 2022, so you can expect pretty recent amenities, which is totally a plus. I really like the decor, which features modern leafy wallpaper and cool 1920s-inspired lighting. Hotel Suez has some interconnected and twin rooms, so it’s a good match for families with older kids and teens.

Hotel Colbert Mélia Collection (€€€€)

This is a great fit if you’d like a luxury setting paired with hotel views of Notre-Dame. Found only 500 meters away, the hotel is part of a chain, but it’s in a typical French building and has some personality. Rooms are chic, and mostly in tones of black, grey, or red. It was also recently redone, so you’ll be treated to some great features, like AMAZING bathrooms. You’ll love taking a soak in the tubs at the end of your day of sightseeing. Another great perk is its lovely outdoor terrace, where you can grab a drink or a meal.

Where to stay near the Eiffel Tower

I certainly understand the attraction of staying near the Eiffel Tower. There’s no better symbol of Paris, and it’s very magical. BUT I do have to give you a few words of caution about staying in the area.

The 7th district is elegant, but it’s boring, far from other parts of Paris, AND expensive. So, if you’re okay with a quiet ambiance, taking longer to get around the city, and paying more for meals out, then here are some great hotels to fully immerse yourself in the spirit of la Tour Eiffel.

This is an image of a double bed with a view of the Eiffel Tower out of the window.

Les Jardins d’Eiffel (€€)

There aren’t too many affordable options near the Eiffel Tower, but you can get some pretty good deals at this nice independent hotel. Nestled within a garden (jardin in French), the hotel has a really pretty and relaxing setting. I wouldn’t say the decor is cool, but some rooms have modern print wallpaper and mid-century style furnishings. Not all rooms have Eiffel Tower views, but the ones that do are worth paying the higher rate.

Hotel Le Walt (€€€)

This upscale boutique hotel has some of the best close-up views of the Eiffel Tower. It’s found a few paces from the Rue Cler, a vibrant market street, so it offers a more local experience than hotels found on the other side of the Eiffel Tower. It only has 25 rooms, which also makes it more personable. These have contemporary furniture and these nice, large-scale copies of historic artworks on the walls. You won’t have to guess which rooms have the best views; the “Eiffel Tower” category is the one to go for. (WA)

To be completely honest, I don’t love this modern glass hotel, but it really does have absolutely STUNNING views of the Eiffel Tower. So if close-up views of the tower from your room are your dream, then this could be the hotel for you. I do have to warn you that it’s in an area that really lacks neighborhood personality and is a decent walk away from anywhere that does (unlike Le Walt above). If you’re okay with this, then you might as well splash out on a room with those spectacular views, like the Deluxe rooms that also have balconies. (WA)

Where to stay near the Louvre

The most visited museum in the world, if you’re a big art fan, you might want to stay near the Louvre. There are also a few other perks for basing yourself nearby. The Louvre is pretty central, so you can walk to TONS of places from here, perhaps even more than from around Notre-Dame.

The downside is that there’s not a lot of local life around the Louvre. The streets north of the Louvre have many offices and big hotels, so not many Parisians live in the vicinity of the museum. There are some neighborhood vibes, but you have to know where to find them, and I’ve included some great spots in the area in our Paris Itinerary

If this sounds like the best area in Paris to stay in for you, then hopefully one of these hotels will be a great match.

Hotel Montpensier (€)

This is a pretty good budget option that’s very close to the Louvre. Don’t expect cool, stylish decor – rooms are simple, but the blue, purple, or grey accents add some character. It’s got twin, triple, and quad rooms, so it’s well-suited for families and friends. The location is really its strong point, as it’s a few paces from the Louvre, the Palais Royal, and the métro.

Hôtel Louvre Piemont (€€)

This is a great deal for a 4-star hotel with a spa that’s only a short walk from the Louvre. I really like the decor, which combines bold colors, cool patterned textiles, and large artsy photos. It’s a bit retro, but also very Parisian. Some rooms have views of the elegant row of rooftops of the Palais Royal, which is very unique.

You can’t stay closer to the Louvre than at this classy historic hotel, found just one short block away. Dating from the mid-1800s, it was completely refurbished a few years ago, and it is FABULOUS. I definitely wouldn’t say no to staying here – but it’s on the pricey side. Rooms are mostly in cream tones with eccentric vintage prints of flowers or butterflies on the walls. The bathrooms are super DREAMY, with the latest top-quality fixtures and marble tiles. They also have some fun family suites with chic bunk beds for the kids. (WA)

Where to stay near Opera Garnier

Not far from the Louvre is Paris’s most famous theater, the extravagant Opéra Garnier. It’s another super central place, which is absolutely the major appeal for staying in the area. Transport lines are incredible, plus there are a lot of places you can reach on foot from here. It’s home to two of the city’s most popular department stores, the Galeries Lafayette and Printemps, plus there are lots of other shops around, but mostly international chain shops.

It’s a buzzing part of the city, but sadly, not in a local way. Like around the Louvre, there are tons of offices in the area, so come nightfall, it’s almost a ghost town. There are mostly chain restaurants that are geared towards the office workers. That doesn’t mean this area is bad to stay in, just some things you might like to keep in mind.

Hotel Choiseul Opera (€)

This good-value hotel is situated on a side street off Avenue de l’Opéra and around the corner from the Opera House. The decor is a bit old school, with dark wood furniture and grey accents, but it’s clean and the beds are comfy. There’s also air-conditioning, which is a really great feature if you’re visiting in summer.

Chouchou (€€)

I really like this eclectic boutique hotel that’s located around the corner from the Opéra Garnier. It’s got a playful carnival feel, including a whimsical bar-restaurant under a glass atrium that’s popular with Parisians. Rooms have velour or leather sofas, black and white photos, and funky lighting, which gives you the feeling you’re staying with a cool Parisian friend. It’s got some single rooms, so it’s a good option for solo travelers wanting to stay in a fun boutique hotel. (WA)

Hotel Edouard VII (€€€)

You can see the Opéra Garnier right from your window at this posh hotel on Avenue de l’Opéra. It’s named in honor of the British king, Edward VII, who loved and spent a lot of time in Paris. The decor aims to have a theatrical element, reflecting the Opera House and the many other theaters that are in the area. Rooms have more serious black headboards and furniture, but touches of yellow and red add some excitement, as do large prints of music scores and images of the Opera House here and there.

Where to stay near the Sacré-Coeur

If you’re looking for unique views and a charming village feel, then you might like to stay near Sacré-Coeur. Paris’s second most visited church (after Notre-Dame), there’s a special allure about Sacré-Coeur. Located on a hill and surrounded by the former village of Montmartre, it’s really pretty. It’s true, a LOT of tourists flock to the area, but they’re mostly gone by nightfall, so having the area “to yourself” is definitely one of the benefits of staying in the area.

There’s no question the area oozes charm, but it’s also a bit further away from many other sites in Paris. This is only a slight hindrance, because there are convenient métro stations nearby and you can reach most other attractions in under 30 minutes.

This is an image of a very minimalist white room with two single beds in the middle. You can see a small table with a kettle and some paintings on the wall.

Le Village Montmartre (€)

This boutique hostel-hotel at the foot of Sacré-Coeur is one of the best cheap hotels in Montmartre. It’s actually pretty nice too, with wooden beams, nice parquet flooring, and vegetal artwork. It’s got private double, twin, and quad rooms, so you don’t have to stay in one of the shared dorms. All guests have access to a shared terrace that has beautiful views of Sacré-Coeur.

Môm’Art Hotel Paris (€€)

This artsy boutique hotel is located next to the park that’s below Sacré-Coeur. Run by a family, it’s got a friendlier vibe than a lot of the bigger hotels in the area. Its name is actually a twist on the district, Montmartre, and its artistic heritage. The decor reflects this, and throughout are copies of paintings by Picasso, Modigliani, and other artists who lived in the area. You can think about these as you stroll Montmartre’s pretty streets and see where the art crowd hung out. (WA)

A touch further away from the others on this list, but still only a short walk away, is this more luxurious art-focused hotel. It’s found on a side street off Rue des Abbesses, the district’s local market street. So you’ll have the convenience of being able to easily visit Sacré-Coeur as well as the feel of a real neighborhood. Recently refurbished, rooms have cool black embossed walls, colorful decorative textiles, and some artwork by neighborhood artists. I’ve had friends who’ve stayed here and really LOVED it.

Where to stay near L’Arc de Triomphe

To be honest, of all the places to stay in Paris near popular attractions, around L’Arc de Triomphe is my least favorite. The area is super touristy, expensive, and has even less personality than around the Eiffel Tower. All you’ve got are big, wide streets (with mostly offices in those pretty buildings), chain stores, and chain or very expensive restaurants. Good luck finding a bakery!

But if the goal of your Paris trip is to shop at luxury boutiques and have gastronomic meals, then staying near the Arc de Triomphe might be a good fit for you. There are some ultra-fancy hotels in the 8th arrondissement, but they aren’t necessarily near the Arc de Triomphe, so the ones I’ve chosen are the closest to Napoléon’s archway and are worth staying at.

This is an image of a really minimalist, cream hotel room with a double bed and a TV on the wall opposite it. The curtains are pink and there are other pink accents around the room.

Hotel Vernet (€€€€)

This sumptuous luxury boutique hotel oozes Parisian chic. Also on a quieter street not too far from the Arc, it has a very appealing look that’s created with contemporary design items, honey-toned wood paneling, and patterned textiles. Be sure to treat yourself to a meal in its gorgeous restaurant, covered with a breathtaking glass ceiling.

Numa Paris Champs-Elysées (€€)

In an area where a lot of hotels are over 1,000€ per night, this reasonably-priced apart-hotel is a real gem. It’s situated off the Champs-Elysées on a side street that actually has a tad of personality and some good local restaurants. With pastel colors, checked cushions, and quirky artwork, the rooms kinda feel like a Wes Anderson movie set. You can choose from simple double rooms, ones with kitchenettes, and ones that also have balconies, so it’s a great home away from home.

Hôtel Balzac (€€€)

This elegant historic hotel is on a small, peaceful street right around the corner from the Arc de Triomphe. Located within a classic Parisian stone building, the rooms are also more traditional. They’ve got beige and gold wallpaper, artwork in gilded frames, and leather armchairs or plush sofas. If you can afford a splurge, some of the suites have incredible views of the Eiffel Tower. (WA)
